Adventure Description
Out-and-back hike from Islip Saddle to the summit of Mt. Baden-Powell (9,399 ft) via the PCT. This route skips the famous 40 switchbacks and takes the ridgeline approach from the north, offering wide-open views of the San Gabriel Mountains.
The trail follows the Pacific Crest Trail south with steady elevation gain through Jeffrey pine and lodgepole pine forest. Final stretch is exposed and rocky near the summit. Bring layers — it gets windy at the top. Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful Pass required for parking at Islip Saddle.
